Lastly, for you Kava connoisseurs, please note that is an 55% concentration of kavain and yagnonin only. The high concentration means you only need to take 290 mg per day to get a full serving of Kava. Also, note that this 55% product is the replacement for our 84% Kavalactone Paste that was too strong to fit within strict FDA guidelines.
Directions: 290mg (1/8th teaspoon, included) twice daily. Daily dosage not to exceed 580mg (1/4 teaspoon). Maximum period of daily use: 3 months. Use may resume for 3 months after a 2-week break.

I have been using this stuff for years. I’ve tried all sorts of Kava preparations, and nothing else comes close in terms of effectiveness and ease of use. I just hope Kona Kava farms never stops making it.
I like to add a little bit of water so that the rather dry brick becomes a paste that you can roll into a pea-sized ball with your hands. Just cut up the little round brick with a butter knife, add a small amount of water, cut and mix, let sit for a few hours, more cut and stir and – presto. The perfect paste.

I was very skeptical at first as there are many “calming” herbs out there. I will say that this is by far the best. I purchased the 55% paste and have been mixing it with tea. I must say it is great for sleeping at night or just during the day when things get hectic.
I would recommend for anyone looking for a natural alternative to anti-anxiety/stress. I am a medical provider for 13 years and this is way better of a start than any prescription. I don’t write reviews unless I am really impressed and I must say this product does exactly what most others have reported on this site as well as others. Kava is a very suitable treatment for daily stress relief and the end of the day wind down. Very relaxing, calming and totally absent the mental dulling of ones awareness. Unlike alcohol is. Kava is the real deal here folks!

This is stuff is pretty sweet. It’s not as good as the classic brew, but it’s convenient because you don’t necessarily have to have an empty stomach for it to work. As much as I’ve acquired the taste for kava, this stuff is pretty hardcore on the taste buds. It kicks in faster under the tongue, but the taste is easier to manage dipping it like chewing tobacco, like the kava team member stated. I haven’t had any luck encapsulating it and taking it. I didnt feel a thing, but you can dissolve this in water and basically have a kava brew equivalent if you want. All around good stuff for those on the go!

This is the first kava product I ever tried. I wanted to try something concentrated to make sure I get the effects. The first time I had it was the most intense, but after that it was more subtle. For me, it has an energizing effect and I like to take it when I get tired throughout the day. It also puts me in a better mood. It does have a bitter strong taste and it makes part of your mouth numb, but I did get used to it after a while.

Firstly, great service from Kava.com…arrived in UK 7 days after ordering. Pleased with the texture of the paste as it’s more ‘solid’ than I thought and can be cut up quite easily (which makes it easier to weigh)…I used .46g under my tongue and kept it in my mouth for 30 minutes before swallowing….there’s a mild numbness after a few minutes (not unpleasant) and as I didn’t swallow for 30 minutes I had no issue with the taste…the effect is definitely not a ‘high’ in the conventional sense, for me it’s more akin to a beta-blocker for the brain and promotes an inner calmness. Still feeling the effects of my first dose as I write this and will most definitely be purchasing more…but the 1oz jar next time :o)

Just got this and tried it for the first time. 2 questions:
– the instructions say 1/8 tsp (290mgs). But when I weighed it, 1/8 tsp is much more, like multiples of 290mgs. So should I be taking 1/8 tsp or actually just 290mgs?
– how long should I hold it under my tongue? After a few minutes I have a pretty large amount of saliva and no solid paste. Do I just swallow then?

The product description says that there is 300 mg in the 1/8th teaspoon but the packaging says that one serving (1/8th teaspoon) has 155mg. Which one is it? Also, is it ok to just swallow the pea size amount like a pill? I can’t stand the taste. Thanks!

There are 300mg of paste in a 1/8 tsp serving. In that serving of paste approximately 55%, or 155mg, is pure kavalactone extract.
If you dislike the taste it is perfectly fine to simply swallow the paste in the same way you would with a capsule. The paste will still work and produce the similar effects, though these effects may not be quite as intense.

I have never tried Kava Kava and this paste will be my first shot. I just have a few questions before buying it.
Does it stain your teeth? Also, are there potential side effects from putting this paste under your tongue or behind your lip? Instead, can I simply eat it with something? It should not cause any stomach problems due to long-term consumption, right?

Great questions, but we’ve never known Kava paste to stain anything other than clothes! Also, there are no known side effects to putting the paste under your tongue. In fact, it’s the most popular method of ingestion. And yes, many customers also eat a pea-sized serving with just about anything. Or, they blend it in with their smoothie. It’s so concentrated, just a tiny amount will be all you need. And lastly, we’ve never heard of any long-term issues with the stomach. We can say that in about 1 out of 100 customers, they do report temporary nausea every now and then.

The 1/8 teaspoon server that is included in the package is simply a guide for a good amount to start with. As you become more knowledgable about how kava affects you, it is perfectly fine to increase or decrease the dose to suit your preference.
You generally want to keep the paste in your mouth for 15-20 minutes at least to give it some time to begin to dissolve. To keep from swallowing, I actually prefer to put the paste inside my lower lip similar to a piece of chewing tobacco. The kava may get in between your teeth a bit but it is completely harmless to your mouth and gums.

This little jar packs a punch ! What I like about this product is that it is concentrated and great for on the go. I use it at work where there is a high amount of hard work and stress, its easier and faster than mixing up some instant kava if you don’t have the time. I open up the jar in the morning when I get into work , pop in a small amount under my tongue and feel the pressure subside. All my coworkers ask why I am so calm ha-ha and seem jealous because of it. It works fast and effortlessly. For those who don’t mind the taste of kava in your mouth and want to have some potable and effective , this is the product for you. The taste is a bit strong but that’s how you know its gonna be good KAVA !!
