A kava strainer bag is essential for making kava as they do in the Polynesian Islands of the South Pacific. It holds in all the coarse kava root while letting the fine powder diffuse into the mixture. These finely-crafted strainers can be used over and over again. I’ve got one from several years ago, and it’s going to last me quite a few years more!
These work better than cheesecloth as the strained kava passes through the mesh more easily, while still straining out all of the rough kava root from your extraction.
To use, simply place the strainer bag over a large, and preferably glass bowl. Slowly pour your kava mixture into the bag (don’t worry, it’s quite large when it unfolds), allowing the liquid to pass through the strainer. Once the liquid has slowed, then grab the top of the bag and twist to seal the top. Then, work your hands down the strainer bag, gently kneading and squeezing the remaining liquid out of the kava root.
Individually made in Fiji from a very sheer fabric; you can see that these strainer bags are colorful and unique – no two are quite identical. You can request a favorite color, but we can’t guarantee it; sorry! (If you’re unhappy with our choice, you can always return it for a replacement.)
