5. Sun Kava Tea (Customer Submitted)

Dianna from Helena, MT sent this to Kona Kava Farm years ago, and it’s still one of our favorite Kava Tea recipes:

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart container with a top that seals (1 quart canning jar works great!)
  • 3 to 3 & 1/2 cups purified water or spring water
  • Ginger to taste (1/4 to 1/2 tsp)
  • 3 tsp lecithin or Kava Blender
  • 3-4 heaping tablespoons powdered kava root

Steps:

1. Mix your ingredients together and shake well.
2. Place in a warm, sunny spot and shake the jar periodically.
3. Leave it in the sun for several hours. (A friend of mine leaves it in the sun all day. The ‘awa develops a beautiful frothy white head.)
4. When I think it’s done, I bring it in, strain it through cheesecloth and it’s ready to drink…warmed by the sun and delicious.
5. Keep any unused ‘awa in the refrigerator.

6. Kava Chameleon (VERY STRONG & SPICY!)

Ingredients:

  • 6 tbsp powdered or micronized kava
  • 2 cups purified/spring water
  • 1 cup soy or rice milk (chocolate is especially good in this recipe)
  • 2-4 mint sprigs to taste (I use a large pinch per recipe)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • ginger to taste (optional, i use 1 tsp)

Steps:

1. In a blender, pour in the kava, water, soy milk and cinnamon
2. Turn the blender on for just a few seconds to stir ingredients, then let sit for about 15 minutes
3. Turn the blender on high and leave on for about 3 minutes
4. Add the mint and ginger, if desired, and blend for another minute or two.
5. Strain the kava into a cup with a mulsin bag or leave the kava in and just drink everything

4. Enjoy, rinse and repeat!

Now, when I asked AI to provide me a list of the “TOP 10 ALL-TIME KAVA RECIPES”, this is what it gave me below. It seems as though it was taking a common recipe for a drink, and then simply adding kava into the recipe. Interesting results, although I’m not too sure on how useful they actually are:
